August 19 2009 Prep Overlay And Commentary

Here is today's prep overlay. As my earlier post indicated, I stood aside after missing my support zone trade this morning.

It is difficult to have such a powerful understanding of how the market is moving along with the ability to make accurate projections that work on a daily basis (a skill acquired through intense training from a professional) but still go through periods of execution failure.

I have been scanning the Internet for others who are in the same position that I am. Which I would describe as a couple years into a serious trading career on the verge of really starting to accomplish some of my goals yet still fighting on a daily basis to be able to stay in this game.

Where is everybody who is serious about trading? All I can seem to find are either those claiming to be educators who do not trade themselves selling garbage to new traders or other traders that seem to be trading for real but have no idea what they are doing and think they will suddenly start to understand this game.

Why can I not find a single website or blog that speaks of the extreme difficulty in the journey to becoming a successful trader?

I would think there would be a market for this kind of thing. I wish I could have had access to something like what I write about when I started trading. It would have saved me a lot a time and heartache.

Maybe I would have sought out the right kind of help sooner than I did. What is the price tag of struggling your first year in trading with no direction. It is likely $30k, $40k, or $50k before you even get into trading loses. You have to support yourself.

The process is absolutely brutal and one will commonly take many devastating defeats before they even have a sliver of success. I have met very few truly successful traders and they all have had the same path.

You do not see this kind of honesty out there. It does not sell. Why not? Where are all the traders who are serious about making a run?
